Retailer names new director of produce operations

Harps Food Stores has promoted Mike Roberts to director of produce operations. Prior to taking on this new role, Roberts was produce merchandiser and before that produce manager. Roberts is succeeding Dennis Baker, who is retiring.

“I am very excited to have the opportunity to lead our produce department and look forward to guiding us in the right direction. To be able to do what I have a real passion for with such wonderful people at a great organization like Harps is a tremendous honor,” Roberts, told a grocery trade publication.

Roberts is a member of the Southeast Produce Council and the Produce Marketing Association as well as Produce for Kids, Ft. Smith Anti-Och Food Bank and the Ft. Smith Community Health Council, according to the publication. He has completed numerous training programs and most attended the National Grocer’s Association Cornell University Executive Leadership Program.

Harps, founded in Springdale, Arkansas, operates 87 store locations in Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Kansas.
