Bozzuto's Inc. highlights Merchandising Marketplace food show success

Bozzuto's Inc., a leading food distributor serving the Northeast and mid-Atlantic states, hosted its annual Merchandising Marketplace Conference Aug. 8-9.

The event included a packed supplier expo hall and casino-themed entertainment. As evidence of their dedication to community support, Bozzuto's and its partners concluded the conference with a donation of more than 54,000 pounds of food to the local food banks.

"Merchandising Marketplace is always a terrific seasonal kickoff for our valued customers and suppliers. Everyone comes together to create long-term personal and productive relationships, and we are so pleased to see it continue to evolve," Steve Heggelke, executive vice president of merchandising at Bozzuto's, said in a Sept. 5 press release. "Seeing these amazing partners come together and show a dedication not just to their businesses, but also their communities, is such a heartwarming occurrence."

The two-day conference hosted over 600 suppliers on the showroom floor, and offered the opportunity for those in the perishable, grocery, frozen, dairy, specialty, non-foods/GM, HBC and services industries to learn about the latest trends and take advantage of special offers and new products for the fall season. There was also a celebrity guest appearance by Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer, who was on site promoting his coffee brand. He delighted fans by raffling off an autographed drumhead during the conference.

The Hometown Foundation Inc., committed to supporting the community in conjunction with Bozzuto's Inc. and its IGA retailers, displayed a newly designed booth this year. It featured various Special Olympics athletes each day as they promoted the annual Dream Ride Experience.

The conference's evening entertainment included unlimited rounds of complimentary bowling and the return of a favorite game, the "Lucky Bucks Slot Tournament," which challenged players to compete against each other to accumulate the highest number of credits.

This year's Merchandising Marketplace Food Show and the generous product contributions from the 2017 attendees led to the noteworthy donation of more than 54,000 pounds of food to local food banks. Bozzuto's is known for its philanthropic efforts in the community; the company has long-standing relationships with many charitable organizations and gives to various local food banks throughout the year in order to give back to the communities in which they do business.

Bozzuto's upcoming Independent Retailer Conference Food Show is set for March 6-7, 2018.

Bozzuto's Inc. is a family-owned, full-service, wholesale food distribution company, headquartered in Cheshire, CT, that serves over 1,500 supermarket retailers in 10 states.
