E. Armata prides itself on superior customer service

Hunts Point Terminal Market-based E. Armata is a multi-generational, leading produce distribution company with a solid and envious fresh produce industry background and reputation. The company distributes is full line of fresh produce throughout the Northeast and beyond.

Michael Armata, the son of E. Armata’s president, Chris Armata, serves as the company’s berry buyer. Chris Armata is also joined in overseeing the company’s operations by his brother, Paul Armata, vice president., Nick Armata, sales and procurement representative, long-time sales and procurement manager, John Acompora, and Chelsea Armata, office manager.

“It is important to us at E. Armata to remember that being in the produce industry means that we are in the service industry as well,” he said. “Our customers’ needs are most important to us, so if they require specific arrangements made regarding their pick-ups or deliveries, we are here to make than happen.”

E. Armata is a multi-generational wholesale distributor established over 100 years by Erasmo Armata, a Sicilian immigrant who arrived in the U.S. in the late 1890s. It was one of the original 128 companies to occupy the then new Hunts Point Market when it opened in 1967, having relocated from the Washington Street Market in Manhattan which closed when construction of the original World Trade Center began.

Throughout the decades, generations of Armata family members and a strong and dedicated staff of team members have contributed to its continual success as a leading Northeast fresh fruit and vegetable distributor. The company has the highest level of food safety certifications in place.

“We are SQF certified,” said Armata. “Along with having a clean, state-of-the-art facility, we have a quality control team that works 24 hours a day to check every product that we receive.”

In recent years, E. Armata has invested in its future with facility acquisitions, renovations, technology upgrades as well as ongoing fleet additions. The newly renovated facility consists of more than 60,000-square feet of temperature-controlled storage, along with a dedicated warehouse and repacking facility in a separate building at one end of the terminal market. This facility organizes the company’s racking system to have every item just a click away.

E. Armata is a full-line house with multiple divisions for fruits, vegetables, tomatoes, mushrooms and specialty items. It is proud of its hand-picked team of hardworking, dedicated and honest people.
