Gideon (The Truth) Oji of Marrow, GA, hoisted the Kale Cup as the World’s healthiest eating champion at Kale Yeah! The World’s Healthiest Eating Championship, the newest event cooked up at the 2016 Taste of Buffalo presented by Tops.

Oji, a professional eater sanctioned by Major League Eating, consumed 25-and-a-half bowls of kale to be crowned champion of the inaugural Kale Cup. Presented by Independent Health Foundation’s Healthy Options program, Kale Yeah! included top professional eaters sanctioned by MLE who competed to become the healthiest competitive eater on the planet by consuming as much kale as possible in eight minutes.

Kale was chosen for this healthy eating championship as one of the most nutritional vegetables containing many health benefits, according to Carrie Meyer, executive director of Independent Health Foundation.

Those entered in this competition ate kale salads with olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper. Kale Yeah! included both seasoned and local professional eaters competing for prizes totaling $4,000. Oji was awarded the top prize of $2,000.
